Schools
Peoria Unified School District #11 provides primary and secondary education for most of Peoria, as well as some areas of Glendale and Youngtown, a small area of Surprise, and numerous unincorporated areas of Maricopa County. The district has 44 schools and is headquartered in Glendale. High schools within the district include Peoria High School, located at 11200 North 83rd Ave. in Peoria. Getting around
Peoria is roughly a 30-minute drive northwest of Phoenix, with access to Interstate 10, Interstate 17, and Loop 101. Loop 303 also runs through the city, passing near Paloma Community Park in North Peoria. Retail centers such as Park West are situated along Northern Avenue just west of Loop 101, and Arrowhead Crossing and Arrowhead Towne Center are located near Loop 101 and Bell Road.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park, operated by the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department, sits within Peoria's municipal boundaries and centers on the 10,000-acre Lake Pleasant reservoir, created by the Carl Pleasant Dam completed in 1927. The park offers activities such as kayaking, fishing, scuba diving, camping, and stargazing, along with a Nature Center. Community parks include Paloma Community Park, an 85-acre park at Lake Pleasant Parkway and Dixileta Road with pickleball courts, a fishing lake, splash pad, playground, and dog park, as well as Pioneer Community Park, which spans over 80 acres with lighted sports fields, fishing lakes, and a dog park. The Peoria Sports Complex hosts spring training activities in the area.
